Wood barrel
The winery can sell most of its products in wooden barrels of various sizes. The barrels can be purchased empty or filled with the wine chosen by the customer (Red wine, Marsala, Fortified wines, etc.). In any case, the wine is in direct contact with the wood (they are not bag in boxes). Therefore, they should be always full to minimize losses as the wood might dry. To re-fill the barrels, the cellar can supply the wine in different plastic containers.
The packaging of the 5L chestnut barrel includes the barrel, a plastic tap, a reusable cap for the top hole and a wooden pedestal. Those are mostly ornamental items, as wine tends to evaporate due to the thinness of the wood.
There are also 30 or 60L barrels available where, however, neither taps nor pedestals are supplied.
